I love the Dollar Tree….like really love it.  It’s my favorite dollar store, and I go about once a month and stock up on all our favorite supplies for play

You should know that this is NOT a sponsored post my them.  I just love what we’ve done with some of their products and wanted to share.

First I’m going to list our current favorite things from the Dollar Tree and several ways to play with them.  Then at the bottom of the post there is a long list of stuff that I also buy regularly. Paper Cups

We play with these paper cups every day.  J is always coming up with inventive ways to play with them, and E, my 1 year old, loves to sing in them to hear his voice resonate.  Here’s a few ways we play with them.

  • Use them as blocks to make towers.
  • Tape them together and cut out the bottoms to turn them into pretend binoculars.
  • Make pom pom shooters
  • Filled them with beads to make shakers.
  • Fill with soil and sow seeds for the garden

Dish Sponges

We haven’t used the sponges quite as much as our paper cups, but they have been getting some good playtime around here lately.

  • Cut them up to make silent blocks
  • Use them as brushes for painting.
  • Put in our pretend kitchen for cleaning.
  • Turn them into water bombs.

Spray Bottles

J loves spray bottles.  I like the small ones at the Dollar Tree because they are a perfect size for his hands.  We use them mainly for spraying water, but we’ve done a bit more than that with them.

  • Fill with vinegar to spray baking soda to make eruptions.
  • Fill with liquid watercolors to “spray paint”
  • Spray marks made from washable makers with water to make them drip.

Masking Tape

We use masking tape all the time around here for various things.  J uses it mainly to turn his tape is trucks together…don’t ask.  Anyway, here is how I’ve used it to set up activities for him.  Some of these use blue painters tape, but masking tape will work just as well.

Glass Gems

We’ve been playing with our glass gems for a very long time around here.  I bought one pack and they’ve lasted for about 2 years now.  My son calls them his “red beads” and they get played with almost every day.  I actually did an entire post on them.  Here’s some of our favorite ways to play.
